BRIEF
The Department of Geography at the University of the West Indies is holding its first national poster competition in celebration of Geography Awareness Week (GAW), November 11-17, 2018. The competition is open to ALL Secondary School students in Trinidad and Tobago. This year our theme for GAW is “Climate Change Impacts”. Students are required to prepare a poster on ‘Climate Change Impacts on Agriculture and Food Security’ within Trinidad and Tobago.
RULES
- All posters MUST be prepared using the poster template form available from your class teacher. The poster template can also be found on https://geographyawareness.blog-spot.com/
- Posters must include a Title (placed at the top of the poster) and the Name of the Teacher and Students (placed at the bottom of the poster)
- Poster submissions are to be made through class Teachers ONLY
- ONE submission per class
- Posters must reference all research and images
- All images or photos used in the poster must be clear and of high quality, such as .jpg or .png format with a resolution of 5 megapixels (5MP) or greater. Therefore original im-ages are encouraged
- Posters must be saved as .ppt, .pptx or open-source equivalent
- All complete entries MUST be sent to geog.uwi@gmail.com by 12pm on Wednesday 31st October, 2018
PRIZES
- Contest winners will be notified through their School Principals
- The top five posters will be on display during the International Conference on Climate Change Impacts on Food and Nutrition Security at the Radisson Hotel, Port-of-Spain, No-vember 12-16, 2018
- The Teacher and students of the class placing First in the poster competition will be invited to attend the International Conference on Climate Change Impacts on Food and Nutrition Security at the Radisson Hotel, Port-of-Spain for one day during the week of November 12-16, 2018 (FREE of charge valued at $1000TT per person)
- The winning class will also receive additional prizes
- Winning posters may appear in promotional activities for all future Geography Awareness Week celebrations and be used by the UWI-STA Geography Department in perpetuity along with the winner’s names and composition of excerpts thereof

Like and share the poster competition advert on social media, tag your friends. Unsuitable entries will NOT be considered. Posters will be judged on their content, visual presentation, graphical display and overall quality.
